Every bus needs a driver, every airplane needs a pilot. The same goes for businesses – even the best teams and ideas can find themselves adrift without the right leaders providing inspiration and a sense of direction.
Fortunately, for all of us here at OneDay, that’s exactly what we have in our new VP of Marketing, Phi Doan. So I wanted to take a few moments to introduce you to Phi, why he’s the ideal choice for this critical role, and what he envisions for our organization down the road.
The Right Experience and Background
At every step of his impressive career, Phi has proven to be both a leader and innovator. He comes to OneDay from StackPath, where he served as Director of Digital Marketing and Martech. However, his career in the marketing and technology space goes back nearly two decades, including multiple S&P- and NASDAQ-traded public companies.
Phi also has a bachelor’s in business economics from UT Austin and an MBA from UT Dallas. So, if you were to draw a Venn diagram of his work experience and education, the intersection is precisely what we were looking for at OneDay – a visionary marketing leader that understands how organizations work, particularly the instrumental role technology plays.
It Was Fate
Granted, it took a little doing to connect with Phi given everyone’s busy schedules. But as the old saying goes, it was worth the wait. As soon as Phi understood what OneDay is all about, and what our vision and ethos entail, he was immediately interested. His initial conversation with our co-founder and CEO, Clint Lee, just cranked that interest level up even more.
In fact, if you were to ask Phi about that conversation with Clint, he’d say it was that moment he knew OneDay was something he wanted to be a part of. And, of course, the feeling was completely mutual, where we could feel the excitement, enthusiasm, and expertise absolutely radiating from Phi when we spoke. It was either kismet or something very close to it, making everyone involved beam like a 100-watt bulb.
The Impact of OneDay’s Culture
Ultimately, besides our innovative bent on the growing list of industries we serve with our video sales and marketing solutions, it was OneDay’s culture that made the biggest impact on Phi. Yes, the fact that we’re still just getting started, staring an enviable helping of market share in the face, is certainly appealing. However, from Phi’s perspective, the strong connections we form with our customers and absolute belief in the value we provide stands tallest.
These are all traits that stem directly from – you guessed it – our immersive and fulfilling company culture. You see, here at OneDay, we practice what we preach. When we say our culture is the centerpiece of everything we do, a critical driver of everything from our customer service to rapid growth, we mean it. And that, needless to say, is especially appealing in this day and age.
The Road Ahead
Looking a bit into the future, Phi is anxious to help OneDay enter additional industries. Ideally, he wants to see OneDay become a verb to sales and marketing teams – “oneday me” or “just oneday it” – similar to how Google, much to their chagrin, has become synonymous with searching for something on the web. Have you “googled” anything lately? Well, that rarefied branding air is what we’re going for at OneDay.
Besides his marketing and technology wizardry, Phi is also a devoted husband and father to three youngsters – a 6-year-old daughter, a 3-year-old daughter, and a 6-month-old son – as well as a marathon runner. So, yes, he has a lot on his plate. But he wouldn’t have it any other way. And to be honest, we wouldn’t either. The future is definitely bright at OneDay.
